Next Bat Up was founded by Peter Pham, a dedicated Travel Ball and Recreational Baseball dad. Peter’s love for baseball began when he first watched the Chicago Cubs play at Wrigley Field on television in 1989 and started playing recreational baseball at the age of eight. Now, sharing this passion with his son, he experiences the enjoyment, excitement, and financial commitment that comes with youth baseball.
One day, Peter looked around his home and realized he had purchased fifteen youth baseball bats in four years, including USA and USSSA bats. In one year alone, he bought five bats for his son. He wondered why he had bought so many bats and realized it was all about providing his son with the best-performing bat.
Peter vividly remembers buying his son’s first $400 baseball bat, a beautiful shiny copper-gold bat with a black pattern, white writing, ultra-soft silver grip, and lightweight two-piece composite construction. His son was thrilled and said, “This is the one.” Four years and fifteen bats later, Peter understood that looks mean nothing when it comes to buying a bat, especially when his son would outgrow it in a year.
Wishing for a place where young baseball and softball players could try out multiple bats from different brands, models, lengths, and drops, Peter envisioned a company that would make the process of buying baseball bats more convenient and economical. Next Bat Up was born to give parents and kids the option to demo, purchase or rent bats. With newer, stronger, lighter, and more technologically advanced youth baseball bats coming out yearly, not all bats are made the same. Some are top-heavy, some are balanced, and some are lightweight composite or two-piece hybrid or alloy.
Next Bat Up was founded to assist parents, regardless of their level of baseball knowledge, in finding the perfect bat for their young athlete. Peter believes the best baseball bat should be based on the players’ swing, comfort, and hitting analysis from devices like a Rapsodo. Next Bat Up aims to make the financial commitment to your child’s youth baseball career a little easier.
About Our Facility
If you are in the Acadiana area, Next Bat Up’s facility is conveniently located at 114 Jared Drive, Broussard, Louisiana, just a short drive from the Broussard Sports Complex and the Youngsville Sports Complex. In addition to renting the batting cages, Next Bat Up also provides an option to rent a pitching machine and/or Rapsodo camera and radar technology, which accurately tracks exit velocity, launch angle, and hit direction. This vital information can help match your child with the perfect bat.
