How Does the Bat Rental Program Work?


Next Bat Up offers a flexible, worry-free bat rental program designed to help players find the perfect bat.

Rental Program Overview

  • Every rental starts as a short-term rental that can turn into a long-term rental with an optional rental buyout
  • You can cancel anytime
  • Rentals are billed in 30-day cycles

Rental Pricing

  • Monthly rental cost: $25–$75, depending on the bat
  • Each monthly payment is credited toward the bat’s Rental Buyout Price
  • If you decide not to keep the bat, simply return it

Important Details

  • Each bat comes with an automatic 15-Day Bat Rental
  • So please confirm length, drop weight, and certification before ordering

Security Deposit

  • $100 refundable deposit per bat
  • Refunded once the bat is returned in good condition
  • Or applied toward your buyout price if you decide to keep the bat

Easy Returns

  • Email orders@nextbatup.com before your 30-day renewal
  • We’ll send you a prepaid return label
No limit to how many months you can rent


What Is the 15-Day Bat Rental Policy?


Each rental is an automatic 15-day rental.
  • If you ordered the wrong bat or need an exchange, only 50% of the monthly rental fee will be refunded
  • To avoid issues, we strongly recommend verifying:
    • Bat length
    • Drop weight
    • Certification



Can I Rent for Just 30 Days?


Yes! Rentals are month-to-month

At check-out you will see the bat's condition, rental buyout price, and security deposit

Example:

  • Rental Buyout price: $425
  • Monthly rental: $55
  • After 8 months, you’ve paid $425
  • Once you reach the buyout price you have the option to keep it — no additional charges
You’re never locked into a long-term commitment.


How Does the Bat Rental Work?


Every rental payment can be applied towards the Rental Buyout price
  • Once your total rental payments reach the predetermined buyout amount, you may choose to purchase the bat outright. At that point, you have the option to apply all the rental payments made towards the buyout price, your monthly billing will stop, and a purchase receipt will be emailed to you.
  • The rental buyout price is set at the start of your rental and is based on the bat’s condition at that time (e.g., brand new, very good, good, or fair).

You have the option to purchase the bat at any time by paying the remaining balance, which is rental buyout price minus rental payments made and security deposit, if applicable:

Want to cancel?

  • Once the bat is returned, your security deposit is refunded



Why can I not Add a Bat to My Cart?


If bat shows N/A after selecting the bat, we do not have it in stock
If we do not have the bat you want in stock

What Are the Different Bat Conditions?


Each bat is clearly labeled in one of the following conditions:
  • Brand New – Still in the original wrapper; never used.

  • Very Good – Lightly used with minimal signs of wear; may have faint surface scratches.

  • Good – Normal game use with minor scratches, a scuffed end cap, and small paint chips.

  • Fair – Heavily used with visible scratches, a scuffed end cap, and noticeable paint chips.

Guaranteed Game-Ready:
We do not rent cracked, dented, or broken bats.

If you feel a bat is not game-worthy upon arrival, notify us immediately and we will issue a 100% refund.




What Do I Need to Rent a Bat?


To rent or demo a bat, you’ll need:
  • An account at www.NextBatUp.com (Account must be in good standing, no missed payments or outstanding balances)
  • A valid credit card
  • A physical mailing address (no P.O. Boxes)

Are Rental Payments and Security Deposits From Previous Rentals Transferrable to the Next Rental?


No, rental payments and security deposits are not transferrable to the next rental
The only exception would be if the bat breaks

  • If the bat breaks under normal use of hitting baseballs or softballs, is when the rental payments and security deposit from the previous rental can be transferred to the next rental of the same length, drop, and model



How Do I End My Rental and Return the Bat?


To end your rental:
  • Email orders@nextbatup.com
  • We’ll send a free prepaid return label

Return Tips

  • Reuse the original box when possible
  • Replacement boxes are available at UPS or various shipping stores

Grace Period & Renewal

  • We add a 7-day grace period onto the renewal date to give customers enough time to return the bat
  • Email us before renewal date to avoid charges
  • If not returned within the 7-day grace period, the rental automatically reactivates
Local returns also qualify for the grace period


Do You Sell Used Bats?


Yes! We offer two easy ways to purchase used bats:

1. Buy Used Bats (Direct Purchase)

You can shop used bats directly in our “Used Bats for Sale” section.

What to expect:

  • Actual photos of each bat — no stock images
  • You’ll know exactly which bat you’re receiving

Please note:

  • Used bats are sold as-is
  • 3-Day Return Policy (see details below)
  • No manufacturer or store warranty included

2. Short-term Bat Rentals (Try Before You Buy)

Every bat rental at Next Bat Up is a short-term rental or a long-term rental with an optional rental buyout.

With a short-term rental or long-term rental with an optional rental buyout, you can:

  • Try the bat in real game situations
  • Decide whether to keep it or return it after a short rental
  • Purchase confidently, knowing the bat is game-ready, regardless of condition

Every rental bat is inspected and approved for play.

What Is the 3-Day Return Policy for Used Bat Purchases?


You may request a return within 3 days of delivery only if:
  • The bat is different from the listing photos
  • The bat has cracks (not paint cracks) or dents not shown in photos

Returns are not accepted if:

  • The bat was used after delivery
  • The bat was damaged by the customer

Contact us within 3 days to initiate a return.




What Is the Security Deposit?


A security deposit helps ensure bats are returned on time with no late payments
  • Returned on time and undamaged → Full refund
  • Damage or past-due balance → Deposit applied to costs
Buyout → Deposit can be applied toward purchase


Is Pine Tar Allowed on Rental Bats?


No. Pine tar is not allowed on any rental bat (including BBCOR).
  • $100 cleaning fee if pine tar is found
  • Additional charges may apply if damage occurs during removal
We do recommend a Pine Tar Spray that can be applied to grips.  We change bat grips regularly, so there is no issue if you apply sticky substances to the bat grips.  

This policy keeps bats playable for every customer


How Large Is Your Bat Selection?


We expect to offer 500+ bats once all inventory lines are available.

What Brands Do You Rent and Sell?


We are authorized dealers for:
  • Easton
  • Rawlings
  • Louisville Slugger
  • DeMarini
  • Marucci

Availability depends on inventory, demand, and manufacturer restrictions.




Why Aren’t All Bats Available?


Some bats may be unavailable due to inventory limits, manufacturer restrictions, or cost considerations.

We are continually adding different bats.  Please check our inventory or call us if you are looking for a specific bat.




What Is an Ideal Youth Bat?


Key factors to consider:
  • Length – Matches the player’s height and strength
  • Weight – Easy to swing without sacrificing control
  • Grip – Cushioned and slip-resistant
  • Material – Aluminum vs. composite
  • League Rules – Certification and size requirements



Can I Rent More Than One Bat?


Up to 2 bats may be rented per account
  • More than 2 requires manager approval

What If a Purchased Bat Breaks?


Purchased bats are covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

You can use your Next Bat Up receipt as proof of purchase when you submit a warranty claim.  If you do not have one, please email or call us and we will send you a copy. 

Please refer to the brand’s warranty policy.




How Long Does Shipping Take?


We primarily use UPS
  • UPS Ground (flat rate): 2–5 business days, excluding weekends
  • Orders ship within 24–48 hours
  • Weekend orders ship Monday
  • Tracking is provided via email and in your account

We are not responsible for UPS delays once shipped.




What If My Rental Payment Fails?


You have three options:
  1. Return the bat
  2. Buy the bat
  3. Update payment and continue renting

Accounts over 30 days past due may be sent to collections and restricted from future rentals.




What If a Rental Bat Breaks?


If the bat breaks:
  • While hitting baseballs:
    • We’ll replace it with the same model (if available)
    • If covered under warranty, the value paid towards the rental may be transferred to the next rental of the same length, drop, and model. NOT towards a different size or model bat
  • Outside of normal use:
    Customer is responsible for full bat value
